We’re Jo and Cal, two people who’ve always loved the outdoors and wanted a life closer to nature. After spending over a decade in Scotland, mostly in Edinburgh, we decided it was time to come back home to Ireland and make our dream of a small homestead a reality.
Our flat in the city was cosy, but the pandemic made it clear we needed more space — not just for us, but for our two dogs too. We missed fresh air, wide-open fields, and the simple joy of watching things grow. That’s when we started looking for a place where we could build that life.
We found a charming old cottage with a big garden and enough land for a vegetable patch and some animals. The house needed a lot of work, but that’s part of the fun. We’re committed to doing things the right way here: no chemicals in the garden, growing our own vegetables as naturally as possible, and supporting local suppliers for everything else.
It’s not about perfection or having it all figured out — it’s about learning, getting our hands dirty, and enjoying the small wins along the way. We’re excited to share this journey with you, from renovations to recipes, gardening tips, and hopefully a few animal antics too!
